I think it was last conference, Elder Uchtdorf spoke about how far off course a plane (or person) can get by the change of just a few degrees. Friday night after the fireworks (at the Stadium of Fire in Provo, UT) it was not degrees, but rather seconds, that made a huge difference.
We took two cars to the fireworks, I drove one and my father-in-law drove the other. We were parked next to each other, and got up to leave (at the end of the fireworks) at the same time. I wasted NO time in getting Ellery into her car seat and heading out. My father-in-law was not so fortunate as he had a few more kids to load. My care left just a matter of seconds before his and from that little difference, I arrived home before he was even able to leave the parking lot (the grass fields) across from the stadium.
So despite Millie's insisting that the way I drive is unnecessary and won't get me home any faster if I get in front of just one car, or leave just a few seconds (or even minutes) sooner, that difference got us home about an hour earlier than the car that left just after us that night.
